The 100th day of school has become a Very Big Deal for kindergartners, and Finn was excited for Monday's celebration! He brought in a contribution of 5 items for a collaborative collage (Chuck E. Cheese tokens), 100 pretzels for the class snack mix, and a fantastic poster with 100 pictures of Boo-Boo as his main project.
Finn first wanted to just write his name with 100 Ns, then considered cutting out 100 fish and gluing them on a paper aquarium ... and then Calvin, bless him, suggested the Boo-Boo project and even offered to take the photos. When Finn was done gluing it together, Calvin taught him to sign his name in cursive to make it extra special.
The special school day closed out a just-me-and-the-boys weekend, and we had a lovely time. I've had a cough for couple weeks and wasn't feeling my best, but the boys were (mostly) wonderful and Calvin especially tried to fill Doug's shoes when he could. My voice wasn't up for bedtime stories, so Calvin read to me from his latest Percy Jackson book.
Finn lost his second tooth this weekend — and swallowed this one too! Dad messaged from Las Vegas: "Teeth aren't snacks!" But lose one, gain one: Calvin has a new half-tooth, repairing his broken one. Not a fun experience, but it looks (and feels) better now.
Friends treated us to a visit to the children's museum, so the boys got to check out this cool packing tape exhibit before it was, ahem, packed up and put away:
