Family fun

As much as I love summer, there's something about fall that has grown on me. There's a strong rhythm that beats through fall, with the routine of school and homework and football Sundays. The breaks in routine tend to be family affairs, and often in the company of friends.

We're well into football season, with friends coming over Sunday mornings and afternoons free for naps, playtime and cuddles.

We took the boys to a Stanford game Saturday evening — so much fun! — and checked out our local high school two weeks ago. (Not so fun: They were down 59-0 at the half. Ouch.)

Another highlight from the fall was a great 50th anniversary celebration at Finn's preschool. He was excited to have something special to share with the family, and with Calvin played all the game booths they could squeeze in before darkness fell. They walked home with bags full of prizes, both consolation and deservedly earned, and collapsed happily into bed that night.
