It was another hot day today in Minnesota, though not as bad as it was a few days ago. Darienne - I know you thought Como Town may not be the best adventure for the boys, but we were invited to meet up there today with Justine and her girls. Calvin and Finn checked it out online, and thought they'd like to give it a try. Devon and Rylee skipped child care/preschool, and we all headed out together.
Everyone had a great time. All of the rides are designed for kids, and Calvin and Finn went on quite a few of them. They drove their own small cars around a track, tried several versions of "small vehicles going in a circle", and rode the teacup ride. They skipped the small roller coaster - cousin Devon however went on it for the first time and loved it! A highlight for Calvin was going on the bumper cars - he was the only one of our group allowed on, as you needed to be at least 7 to go without an adult (and none of the adults really wanted to go on). When I asked him what he wanted you to know about his day, he said "I did bumper cars and I was the only one who really knew how to do it." (The other drivers were apparently beginners). Finn seemed to really enjoy the train ride, and the ride where they got to spray hoses at pretend fires. After that, we cooled off in the water park. All three boys enjoyed getting wet. Finn was so eager that he ran right in fully dressed. Once everyone was done splashing around, we enjoyed a picnic in the park...classic fare like PBJs, grapes, juice boxes, and chocolate chip cookies.
In the afternoon, we went to see "Brave" and got ice cream. Calvin selected coffee ice cream and cheesecake ice cream...with gummy bears mixed in; Finn opted for cotton candy ice cream...with gummy bears mixed in. Then it was home for some quiet time, pizza (a unanimous vote for Friday "take out night"), and bed.
The boys are doing great - lots of kind behaviors towards each other and their cousins today. We're trying to keep them busy enough so that they don't have too much time to miss you (though of course they do). They enjoyed your email and pictures. When I asked Finn what he wanted to say to you today, he said "thank you for telling me about your trip."
It's quiet now, and all of the little ones are resting up for tomorrow. We're planning a morning at home with some combination of toys and craft activities - then off for more adventures.
